These three themes shaped the lifeline and work of Corinna Bille and Maurice Chappaz, who loved each other deeply. One takes refuge in her dreamlike and fierce imagination, offering a reading of the world that is sometimes cruel, often tender, the other writes verses that recount, that denounce, being the messenger of a harsh and cramped reality.

 

Together, they answer each other.

 

Through their words, they bear witness to a difficult time for two writers “  in a strange country in their own country ”. Their shared love comes up against the mores of a region balanced between the profane and the sacred. They lift each other up above the fog, like the mountains that surround them, and offer us their vision of the world, free and poignant.
