In these few lines, the man known as “Monsieur René” paints the whole paradox of popular theatre, both simple and complex; simple, since it depicts things common to all human souls, complex, because each course is different, strong in a unique and irreplaceable personality. Morax understood that well.

​

The author divided his time between Paris and Morges and offers French-speaking Switzerland a dramaturgy worthy of the name, both close to the people and uplifting. He offers his popular audience dramas in which his great humanity resonates, sublimated by the choirs and the music of Gustave Doret or Arthur Honegger. Music is essential to his theatre.

The 2018 Transvaldésia theater will evoke the thoughts of the Vaudois playwright through selected texts and choruses to recall Monsieur René to our memory, and rediscover the generosity of an author too often forgotten.
