  • Marc Jurt

Marc Jurt was born on February 8, 1955 in Neuchâtel. He spent his childhood in Saint-Blaise (NE) and studied in Neuchâtel where he obtained his Scientific Maturity. Between 1974 and 1978, he attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. Then, he divides his time between creation, teaching at the Collège de Saussure in Geneva and travel. In 1999, he created the Marc Jurt Foundation and moved to the Château de Vaumarcus (NE). In addition to his work as an artist and teacher, he runs Artespace, an exhibition and documentation space dedicated to engraving. A scholarship bearing his name rewards a young artist engraver each year. Weakened by a recurrence of a cancer which nevertheless seemed to have been overcome, his heart stopped beating and he died suddenly on May 15, 2006 at the age of 51.
