Eliane Monin
Eliane Monnin was born on June 15, 1976 in Morteau (FR). Ceramic artist.
We find, in the creations of Eliane Monnin, the spirit of the classic Cabinet of Curiosities and its elementary driving force: amass, isolate, order but also inscribe the rare object in a space, a context which charges it with meaning. We also find something of the fascination for the mathematical structure of natural objects, for the paradox between the irregularity of forms and the formula which hides behind the perfect repetition of patterns, for the productive nature of a life drive which could confine itself to art, which itself reproduces something of nature... Shells, epidermis, plant, organic and mineral bursts come to life in a disturbing staging where obsession, fascination-repulsion, anguish … but also humor, are not absent. It is both the marvelous and the poetic, the intimate and the emotion, which play in Eliane's work with the boundaries between the wonders of nature (naturalia), the artisanal tour de force and the artistic language. (artificialia). Sevan L’Hostis, 2015
