Rainer Maria Rilke, A Ride..

Rainer Maria Rilke, eternal nomad, always on a restless quest, loving beauty, perfection, the absolute impossible, aware of the fate of Man and resigned to his mortal state, ends his life by wanting to know all the a res of a painful death after having finally found a kind of peace and written his masterpiece: "The Elegies of Duino".

"Reiten, reiten, reiten... ride, ride, ride... day, night, day... and the heart is so weary, the nostalgia so great..." Rainer Maria Rilke leaves at 21 the "German" Prague of his youth and, sensitive and unstable, pursued by the deep feeling of the nitude of Being, he will never stop. He rides. And we ride with him and with the Cornette Christoph Rilke von Langenau, in search of the too well-known Unknown, in an agonizing World, without real landmarks, without real love. Night and day are alike. Rilke travels tirelessly, he lives in the true sense of the term, (er erlebt das Leben), on his way to the death he knows is inevitable, he is filled with visions, impressions, encounters... And he writes, he says, “because verses are not made, as people believe, with feelings – those we only have them too early – they are made of lived experiences. Like Cornette Christoph Rilke, Rainer Maria Rilke knows Death when he has barely found a form of appeasement, a place of welcome and a love that will fill him. Muzot, Merline, Balthus, Pierre, death is inevitable. Rilke will lose them.
